What is DEHP?
DEHP? Di(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP) is one of the most cost effective and widely available general purpose plasticisers. It is used mainly for making PVC soft and pliable and it accounts for around 18% of all plasticiser usage in Western Europe. http://www.dehp-facts.com/DEHP. It seems we can hear the PVC that is used many product in our life so we can touch the DEHP every day. Reportedly, people will ingest average 1.029mg every day but it will be exhausted via urine and stool. It will not be kept in your body but it will affect male reproduction ability, liver and lung function. In addition to DEHP in product, many factories exhausted the DEHP into stream when they produce the product including the DEHP. Absurdly, our government listed it in level IV supervision drug so many factory can use it on some products. Europe has REACH regulation to limit DEHP product import but it is not mandatory. Our government should learn Europe to make regulation to control the drug substance including DEHP.
